But sometimes even that toasty tableau isn't enough to lull us off to dreamland. Having trouble falling—or staying—asleep is more common in women than in men, due to women's changing hormone levels, but there's no need to toss and turn during this busy holiday season. Start by making sure your sleeping environment is comfortable, with bedding materials and a room temperature that keep you cool enough for sleep. Get your body on a good sleep schedule by waking up at the same time every day—even on weekends—and limiting naps during the day. Set aside time before bed to calm your mind by journaling about the positive events of your day. And unless the weather outside is truly frightful, try to get in some outdoor exercise every day, even if it's just a brisk walk around the block. If your sleep problems aren't resolving or are worsening, be sure to see your physician to make sure you don't have a sleep disorder or another underlying condition that can be treated. If you're looking for a physician, we have several who are accepting new patients. Request an appointment online at saintagnescare.com. In this edition of Healthy Spirit, you'll learn about fighting back against postmenopausal weight gain, a new innovative prostate screening technology, and a simple procedure to help you get back your quality of life.
