Opt for a formula that contains reflective mineral pigments, which may provide a quick brightening effect. And keep in mind that some eye creams do not contain sun protection, so don't forget to apply sunscreen as well if you are going to be outside during the day, especially at midday. DOUBLE-DUTY MOISTURIZERS If you have a fragrance-free facial moisturizer that you love, you might not even need a separate eye cream, as long as it has the appropriate ingredients and is doing the job. But if your regular moisturizer is super light, you may need to switch to a richer, more emollient formula if you want to use it as an all-in-one product. Or, look for a new facial moisturizer without fragrances or fragrant plant oils (like lavender oil) to do the job of moisturizing the skin under your eyes and on the rest of your face. No matter what kind of product I f you think of eye cream as that thick gooey stuff your grandmother slathered on before setting her hair in curlers for the night, think again. Today, "the best [eye creams] have a greater concentration of anti-aging ingredients than old-school night creams," says Desiree Stordahl, co-author of "The Best Skin of Your Life Starts Here" (Beginning Press, 2015). "You still need your beauty sleep, but an eye cream can help perk up the appearance of a tired-looking eye area," she adds. INGREDIENTS OF SUCCESS At its most basic, a good eye cream can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, thanks to its moisturizing benefits. Start by reading the label, says Stordahl: "There are still some eye creams out there that are pretty bland and mostly contain filler ingredients." What you're looking for is a product with antioxidants and skin-replenishing ceramides.
