• Aminosalicylates (5-ASA) – decrease infammation in
mild to moderate episodes
• Corticosteroids – available orally and rectally to
suppress the immune system for moderate to severely
active Crohn's disease
• Immunomodulators – generally used to modulate or
suppress the immune system when aminosalicylates
and corticosteroids haven't been effective
• Antibiotics – helpful when infections occur, such as
abscesses
• Biologic therapies – antibodies grown in the lab that
stop certain proteins from causing infammation
